Daytime Figure Skating Shinny

NEW SHINNY EXPECTATIONS

Effective immediately

SKATER POLICY

Skate Oakville shinny ice is available for all Skate Oakville members in good standing. To participate skaters must:

Pay the Skate Oakville membership fee and Skate Canada Fee
Register and pay for all shinny sessions
Participate in our programming
Comply with all Skate Oakville Policies and Code of Conduct
Only engage and take lessons from coaches under contract with Skate Oakville
Provide their own music

Skaters who do not comply with these requirements will not be permitted to skate on Shinny sessions.

Skate Oakville members who do not comply may have membership rescinded and privileges revoked.

COACH POLICY

Skate Oakville shinny ice is available for all coaches contracted with Skate Oakville. To participate coaches must:

Ensure skaters they are coaching are Skate Oakville members
Skaters have register and pay for all shinny sessions
Comply with all Skate Oakville Policies and Code of Conduct
Ensure Skate Oakville music resources and equipment (if used) is returned.

Coaches who do not comply with these requirements will not be permitted on Shinny sessions.

Skate Oakville coaches who do not comply may face suspension or termination of contract.

SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES

Non-Skate Oakville members or outside coaches may request special permission for access to shinny ice. Requests must be made in writing at least 48 hours prior to session:

Random Spot Checks Begin October 14

To ensure compliance, we will be conducting random spot checks throughout the day starting October 14.

Penalty for Non-Compliance

If a skater is found on the ice without registering and paying, the session fee will increase to $20.75 for that session and the office will invoice the skater at this increased rate.

For Shinny Pass Holders

If you hold a shinny pass and fail to register for a session, you will be invoiced the penalty difference for each unregistered session.

Ongoing Non-Compliance

Continued failure to register will result in further penalties:

After 3 infractions: session fee increases to $25.75
After 6 infractions: session fee increases to $35.75
After 9 infractions: shinny privileges will be revoked

SKATE OAKVILLE SHINNY ICE

Freeskate Shinny - is available to skaters with a current Skate Canada membership and are at the STARSkate level or higher. Must abide by shinny expectations.

Comp, Dance, and Pairs shinny - are only available to skaters invited into those programs.

Comp Free Skate Shinny - Comp 2 Skaters are invited out on the morning 8:00 am Comp Free Skate Shinny Ice ONLY. Comp 2 skaters wishing to skate in the afternoons are invited to use the free skate shinny ice.

Comp 3 & 4 Skaters qualify to use morning and afternoon Comp Free Skate Shinny Ice Times.
